Security Guard Card

Do you think it is imperative for you to obtain a security guard card before you get the job? If you think that you can readily apply for a job without this card think again. Employers nowadays are very careful in hiring employees because of the recent problems in the security industry. So if you think that you can apply for jobs without obtaining it before your application for a security guard position, you are wrong.

Security guard companies are very keen in hiring people as security guards. But it is because of the fact that the company shall be responsible to their clients that will hire personnel from them. The nature of the job shall require all the security guards to have a security guard card in order to establish their competency and good character. Many employers will ask whether a guard has a criminal record because that will be a great hindrance to the approval of the person’s application. Who wants to hire someone who already has a record of robbery or any other crime involving money?

When preparing to obtain a guard card, you need to first complete an eight hour course, Powers to Arrest. After receiving this card in the mail, you will have 30 days to complete sixteen hours of training. This training is followed by another sixteen hours that is required to be completed with six months.

The first course that is required for the security guard card is eight hours long and partially made up of reading the Department of Consumer Affairs’ Power to Arrest Training Manual and completing any test that is related to this manual. There will also be lectures, discussions, and role-playing. This eight hour course is designed to acquaint people with the responsibility that comes with this job.

In order to obtain the security guard card, this course covers orders and assignments, company policies, and emergency evacuation procedures. The card is one way of making sure that the proper guidelines for training have been followed.
