Project Management Companies and the IT industry:

One major industry these days is the IT industry and because of advancements in it, people have been able to use various significant software and tools easily and profitably. Most of the projects of IT industry relate to infrastructure which consists of new and advanced technological changes, introduction and development of new products and distribution channels, maintenance and up gradation of already existing plants and research and development.

These IT industries utilize the services of project management service companies for completing their projects successfully. However, it is seen from the past records that the framework designed by Project Management Institutes is not able to serve the IT sector resourcefully. Apart from this there are few other organizations that are not satisfied by the work completed by these companies. Factors that hinder the functioning of these companies should be studied so as to resolve them.

One such factor that hinders the working of project management companies is lack of executive support. IT organizations do not allow implementation of companies that do not have upper management support. In order to get support of higher management, it is vital for these management companies to have correct and adequate knowledge regarding the working and completion of an IT project and to show positive recognition, reinforcement and support when needed.

Another factor relates to lack of project management customization. Although the basis of all IT companies is same, but still these may differ on the grounds of culture, legal requirements, internal process and way of working of such organizations. So it becomes difficult for these companies to work according to varied cultures in IT sector.

Most PM companies face problems related to incorrect and incomplete infrastructure because of which they are not able to complete the project on given deadline and in the given budget. Lastly a communication gap between IT companies and project management companies makes project handling difficult which hinders the success of projects.

So for completing the projects profitably, it is important that necessary steps are taken by these companies for eliminating these drawbacks.
